From "Shadow and Reflection", this duplicated image of a sink and running water gives an optical illusion. I choose this photo because it was interesting to look at.This photo is very bright and was focused on the water as the metal shinning skink is in the corner. The sink is reflected in the water, as well as the faucet head has an image of the ceiling light above reflected on it. The lighting came from a window nearby. The ISO was around 400. When I took this photo, I put the camera direct above the faucet, tilted at an angle. Compositionally this photo has a sense of depth, as it feels like you're going deep into the water. and was visually framed. I took this with a fast shutter speed, to capture the water crystal clear as it was moving. The focal point in this photo is the water in the air, coming to a gentle stop filling up the sink bowl. Artistically, I was able to create a photo with a "free moving" mood. It creates a sense of "clarity" and "cleanliness". However, this photo is interesting because I put four of them into one picture, changing their positions and flipping them around, to create an allusion that there are four sinks and the water is running into one big "bathtub". It has an interesting point of view involving a "surprise" aspect because when someone looks at this image they're confused, it takes a minute to process whats going on. It deffinately holds the subject attention, because the leading lines are the lines of water coming from the faucet, into an oasis of clear reflection. I choose to keep this photo in color as well, so all the interesting aspects would be striking.
From "Pattern and Texture", this photo of a glass lamp is very captivating. I choose this photo because it was very elegant and the crystals appeared very glamourous. Some of the technical aspects of this photo were lighting, coming from the lamp head itself above. The ISO was about 400, and this photo shows great contrasts between the blacks, whites and greys, on the diamond like crystals down the picture. The main focus appeared on the middle shape, in the center. The depth of field is large. The shutter speed was relatively fast, 1/500 and the aperture was f/2.8. The angle I took this was pointing downward, closer at the top and more distant towards the bottom. This photo also does follow the Rule of Thirds, each diamond crystal is one section divided into three. It was also Visually Framed. This picture does create a sense of depth looking down almost into a "pit", getting smaller and smaller. The one leading line is down the pole to the bottom of the photo. This photo has an "enchanting" meaning, making the viewer wonder what these precious gems belong to, and being and black and white makes it more mystical.
From "Double Exposure", this photo has an inspiring look to it. I choose this picture because it involved two aspects of nature, a human's eye and a flower. I took a picture of Amanda from my "Studio Portraits", overlaying it on a picture of a flower from "Pattern and Texture". I put this in black and white because color made it distracting when I wanted the viewer to only pay attention to the subject of the picture. The lighting I used was from a studio light ISO 400, and for the flower photograph the ISO was 800. The shutter speed was 1/500, and aperture was f/2.8. The contrast in this photo is shown deeply between the lighter colored flower and the darkness of her pupil. The curved, long, and long oval shapes surrounding her eye and eyelashes make the viewer really focus on what is going on. As a result, the main focus is in the very center of the flower, where her eye appears to come out. The angle this photo was created was straight on, taken right across in arms length, fairly close. It is also visually framed but does not follow the Rule of Thirds. What I loved most about this photo is the many Artistic Qualities demonstrated. The mood in this is free and open. As confusing as this might be to look at, it is also extremely perplexing giving an impression and overall message that we as humans are closer to nature than we perceive. The exquisite details of the petals and the individual circles surrounding her pupil pull you in closer for a deeper look into humanity.
